The Metropolitan Museum of Art was founded 150 years ago on April 13, 1870. Since its founding, The Met has always aspired to be more than a treasury of rare and beautiful objects. Every day, art comes alive in the Museum’s galleries and through its exhibitions and events, revealing both new ideas and unexpected connections across time and cultures. Kicking off the yearlong celebration is Met Stories, a project to collect and share personal stories related to the Museum from visitors, artists, teachers, Museum staff, public figures, and more. Watch the first episode in our video series and share your own story on social media using #MyMetStory or by submitting it here. Read on for Director Max Hollein’s #MyMetStory and stay tuned for all the ways you can celebrate with us throughout 2020. |
