Sanjo Lawal is a Nigerian Fine Art photographer and multimedia artist living and working in Lagos, Nigeria. He studied Fine Art at Yaba College of Technology, Lagos. His works are characterised by the use of vibrant and highly contrasting colors, creative lighting and a strong emphasis on composition.
This sensitivity to color came from the diverse fabrics worn by his mother and the flowers she cultivated in her garden. Deeply influenced by Nigeria, a country with 525 languages, his creative and imaginative spirit drives him to experiment with various colors, textures, and lighting techniques to explore the nuances and cultural diversity of the Nigerian people. He is represented by the gallery THIS IS NOT A WHITE CUBE, which is participating in this year’s edition.
