The department achieved its best result in several years. With a revenue of 15.400.000€ (including premium), PIASA realized 100% progress compared to the first semester of 2023.
These results can be mainly attributed to the dispersion of two major private collections, which saw record prices for several artists: the “Pablo Picasso and his friends” auction on February 15th, 2024 (3.450.000€ including premium) and the sale of part of the Geneviève and Jean-Paul Kahn collection, “From Surrealism to Pop Art” on June 5th (7.300.000€ including premium).

Giorgio de Mitri collection
In order to inaugurate the fall season, PIASA will offer an exceptional sale around the Art and Design collection of Giorgio de Mitri. Italian creator with an international aura, self-defined as a “facilitator of ideas”, Giorgio de Mitri has been working for 30 years in order to promote contemporary creation, through editions, branding and collaborations with major brands – Nike in particular. Throughout his encounters and projects all over the world, Giorgio de Mitri assembled an important collection of contemporary design and urban art, with works by major creators – most of whom are close friends of the collector – such as designers Martino Gamper, Ron Arad, Marc Newson, Studio Job, or artists Futura, Os Gemeos and José Parla.

Franck Laigneau collection
Emblematic art dealer from the Left Bank, Frank Laigneau began by specializing in mid-19th century European furniture, before becoming the main reference throughout the world for anthroposophic furniture, a philospohical movement created in the early 20th century in Dornach, Switzerland, by philosopher Rudolph Steiner. Now living in the Portuguese region of Alentejo with his partner Vitor Borges, Frank Laigneau has entrusted PIASA with approximately 200 lots from his collection, charting his personal background and path. Anthroposophic furniture will of course be a main theme, with the rarest productions by the main protagonists of the movement such as Rudolf Steiner, Oswald Dubach, Felix Kayser or Siegfried Putz. The auction will also feature furniture and artworks from late 19th century Northern Europe, and Estremoz marble objects, lamps and furniture created by Frank Laigneau and Victor Borges.

ABOUT PIASA
Founded in Paris in 1996, the PIASA auction house today embraces the creations of the 20th and 21st centuries, from modern and contemporary art to design, from decorative arts to jewelry.
Located in an 18th-century building on rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré, in the heart of Paris’s right bank golden triangle, PIASA organizes its sales and exhibitions in this intimate setting, in collaboration with leading interior designers.
Renowned in France and internationally for its singular eye, which focuses above all on the aesthetic strength of a work or object, PIASA also distinguishes itself by regularly publishing richly documented catalogs, which are highly prized and a true record of the company’s activity.
