Now open: the extensive retrospective of Brassaï Brassaï elevates everyday subjects to true works of art with his iconic photography of Paris: the Pont des Arts from the water, intimate moments between lovers and painters at work on the streets and a nightly view from the Notre Dame. Apart from sublime images of the city, Brassaï photographed both wealthy Parisians and his friends and contemporaries including Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí. He also captured the gritty edges of life in the French capital depicting hustlers, prostitutes and other ‘scum’, as Brassaï considered them an entwined and authentic part of the city. Travel a hundred years back in time to Paris in the 1930s by looking at the black-and-white vintage prints of Brassaï in his large retrospective. Every Friday evening, you can join a night time walk-in workshop in the streets of Amsterdam. Members can come and visit the exhibition on a quiet moment during Member Hours on Tuesday 17 September, including guided tours. View the full programme to embrace the Parisian feeling at Foam. |
