The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong ups the musical ante for its last 2018 event of the “MO SOUND-BITES” series with a sensational performance by the acclaimed Swedish DJ Crussen at MO Bar on 8 December 2018. The evening will open with acclaimed master of music DJ Tony Montana.

“We are incredibly proud to introduce international artist of this extraordinary calibre and the hottest music in the city,” says The Landmark Mandarin Oriental’s General Manager Archie Keswick. “We’re known for eclectic programming that takes risks, from established acts to the local scene, that sets pulses racing and our last event will push creative boundaries to the maximum.”

Robbin Crussen brings a distinctive blend of high energy, playful folk and electronic to his musical events and MO SOUND-BITES’ final edition of the year. Born in the southern Swedish town of Ystad, Crussen was fascinated with music from a young age, playing the French horn in an orchestra and drumming in a hard-core punk band. Keen to channel his creativity through drawing, dance or music he says much of his inspiration as a drummer came from the skateboarding scene and Swedish punk bands.  At high school he discovered making music on a computer was an even faster way to create, and never looked back.

In 2005 Crussen moved to Oslo, Norway, to study sound design, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Popular Music and Record Production from Southampton University, United Kingdom, followed by a Master’s degree in the same field at London’s Kingston University.

Today, Crussen’s boundary-pushing avant-electronic exploration features on labels such as Clubstar, The Magic Movement, Underyourskin Records, Musicpark Records, Coyote Cuts and many more. His inspiration, he says, comes from chancing upon a peculiar rhythm, sound or sample, and the process he follows differs according to his mood. Don’t be fooled by the folksy look though – he’s a formidable force behind the decks.

Following his exclusive Hong Kong appearance at MO SOUND-BITES, Crussen will appear at Wonderfruit, one of the world’s most acclaimed annual arts and music festivals.  The event in Thailand, from 13-16 December, debuted in 2014, and is the biggest, most exciting – and carbon-neutral, sustainable – music festival in Asia.

The opening act by DJ Tony Montana also promises to be a showstopper. The British master of music plays at the hottest clubs, private events and leading festivals around the world from Burning Man and Berlin Love Parade to delighting the dance floors of the most chic of Ibiza and Bali’s nightclubs. With a particular penchant for House Music, his reputation for consistency and quality is unparalleled.

MO Bar recently upgraded its sound system, customizing an extraordinary audiophile experience with four UDX15 front-of-house speakers and five PMX5 compact monitors from French specialist audio brand Amadeus which supplies some of the world’s most prestigious concert halls, opera houses and music venues. Bass reinforcement comes from two ML15 main bass speakers and four ML12 slim compact brass speakers while an additional ML28 large subwoofer speaker increases sound level for a unique immersive experience.

MO SOUND-BITES will collaborate with iconic fashion brands I.T and McQ for this event.
