InterContinental Hong Kong’s General Manager Claus Pedersen is pleased to announce that the 2020 Michelin Guide to Hong Kong and Macau has once again honoured two of the hotel’s restaurants, with 1-star for its acclaimed Yan Toh Heen Cantonese restaurant and 1-star for Rech by Alain Ducasse.

Yan Toh Heen has been honoured with Michelin stars for 11 consecutive years. This is the third consecutive year for Rech by Alain Ducasse to receive a Michelin star since its March 2017 opening.

Commenting on the awards, Claus Pedersen says, “We are delighted that two of our restaurants have been awarded Michelin stars again in the 2020 Michelin Guide to Hong Kong & Macau. To receive these stars is an honour and great recognition of the hard work by all of our team members. The Michelin stars further enhance InterContinental Hong Kong’s position as a destination for truly memorable dining experiences.
We are committed to consistently delivering top quality cuisine and service. These awards from the Michelin Guide are great recognition of this commitment.”

Yan Toh Heen

2020 marks the 11th consecutive year that Yan Toh Heen Executive Chef Lau Yiu Fai and the team have been honoured by the Michelin Guide.

Yan Toh Heen is recognised as one of the world’s finest Chinese restaurants specialising in fine Cantonese cuisine. Over the restaurant’s 35 year history, it has received numerous accolades, including being awarded
5-stars by the Forbes Travel Guide.

Executive Chef Lau Yiu Fai, who has been with the restaurant since it opened in 1984, and his team prepare exquisite Cantonese cuisine, using only the finest and freshest seasonal produce, refined Chinese cooking methods, expertise and culinary finesse, along with a creative modern presentation.

The restaurant features an extensive à la carte menu which includes seasonal Cantonese specialties plus an extensive dim sum selection at lunchtime and set lunch and dinner menus.

With a warm and welcoming ambiance and stunning harbourviews, Yan Toh Heen has an elegant design by CAP ATELIER, which is inspired by a jade jewellery box which opens to reveal layers of treasured collectibles and discoveries of Cantonese culinary arts.

Tea service becomes an art form with rare tea leaves uniquely presented by Tea Sommelier Kelvin Ng. As the first Tea Sommelier in Hong Kong, Kelvin has perfected the pairing of Chinese Tea with the Cantonese cuisine. He presides over a special tea ceremony/performance presented on a tea trolley with a charcoal stove on which he boils Tibet 5100 Natural Glacial Mineral Water to roast the rare tea leaves from his Connoisseur Tea Menu.

Open daily for lunch and dinner.

Rech by Alain Ducasse

This is the third year for Rech by Alain Ducasse to receive 1-Michelin star, following its opening in March 2017.

If you love seafood, you’ll adore Rech by Alain Ducasse. One of the most famous seafood restaurants in Paris, Rech, founded in 1925 and reborn by Alain Ducasse in 2007, made its international debut in March 2017 at InterContinental Hong Kong. An authentically French seafood experience, it showcases the freshest oysters and fish from France with Chef Alain Ducasse’s personal interpretation and contemporary cuisine.

Executive Chef Guillaume Katola, who joined Rech in February 2019, has worked with Alain Ducasse Paris for over a decade, literally working his way up the culinary ladder starting at the
1-Michelin star Jules Verne Restaurant at the top of the Eiffel Tower.

With a modern and relaxed seaside-inspired ambiance and InterContinental Hong Kong’s spectacular panoramic harbourviews. Rech was designed by Marie Deroudilhe, who revamped the Parisian restaurant in 2012. Key design elements are all reminiscent of the sea — the inside of a seashell, a piece of floating wood, drifting clouds, the shimmering sunlight on the surface of the water and waves.

Open daily for dinner and on Saturday and Sunday for lunch.
