The Opening ceremony takes place on the 17th of May 2017 at the Cannes Palais de Festival et des Congres. 2017 marks the 70th anniversary of the Cannes Film Festival. Which makes this years edition a commemoration of Cannes standing in the film world and its rich history as a platform for the arts.
The Cannes film festival is synonymous for playing a vital role in the film and arts. Rich in pedigree over the course of history and ever since its inauguration in 1947 it has been the platform for big names and second works from Directors across the globe. Furthermore, the introduction of the “Marche du Film” in 1959 has cemented the Cannes film Festival as the worlds first international platform for film commerce. The closing ceremony on the 28th May 2017 will be broadcasted live and the prizes awarded by the jury 70th Festival de Cannes presided by Pedro Almodovar , Will Smith, Maren Ade, Paolo Serentino, Agnes Jaoui , Gabriel Yared, Park Chan Wook and Fan BingBing.
