Hong Kong is ready for a huge festive season with Christmas markets, light and music shows and special retail and dining offers coming to town.
Hong Kong Tourism Board chairman Dr Peter Lam said this year’s Hong Kong WinterFest is being presented in a new format “and features the most extensive lineup and richest event elements to date”.
“We aim to create a strong festive atmosphere citywide and reinforce Hong Kong’s position as Asia’s top winter travel destination,” Lam added.
Toy-themed decorations, carol performances and appearances by Santa Claus at Christmas Town in Statue Square Garden in Central will set the festive mood for Hong Kong WinterFest from 14 November to 4 January.
A Christmas market featuring 12 festive chalets will open on 28 November.
At the heart of Christmas Town will be a 20m-tall outdoor Christmas tree – the height of a six-storey building – while Chater Road will be transformed into Starlight Boulevard.
From 28 November, eight iconic buildings surrounding Christmas Town will be used as a huge canvas for a multimedia light-and-music show.
For shoppers and diners, the Hong Kong Tourism Board will link with industry partners to launch a WinterFest Delights campaign in December.
The promotion will include more than 300 exclusive offers for dining, shopping, attractions and transport. A one-stop online platform will be available for visitors to explore all available offers.
