A list of champions at the Casino Admiral Trophy
The Marbella tournament, included in the ATP Challenger Tour, opens with an attractive list of players, the world’s leading tennis figures
The first edition of Casino Admiral Trophy has managed to attract the attention of tennis professionals all around the world. The tournament, which is included in the ATP Challenger Tour circuit, will take place from March 24 to 31 at the facilities of the Puente Romano Tennis Club (Marbella).
The celebration in Easter of this tournament has been specially attractive for tennis players due to several factors: it coincides with the start of the tournaments on clay courts in Europe (it is the first of the circuit) and it serves as a preparation for those who outline their participation in Roland Garros.
The final list of players has been announced today, “we have managed to bring to the tournament the best raquets of the world” said the director of tournament, Ronald Leitgeb. The ambassador of the Casino Admiral Trophy, Adrián Menénédez, was very satisfied with the quality of the tennis players “This is our first year and this players list is really incredible. We can also say that it is not necessary to go to Masters 1000 Madrid or to the Masters 500 Barcelona to enjoy tennis. We have the best here, “he said.
Today, the definitive list of players who have already confirmed their participation in Casino Admiral Trophy has been announced. Adrián Menéndez (112th and tenth national player), Alejandro Davidovich (455th junior Wimbledon winner) and Alexei Popyrin (446th, junior champion Roland Garros 2017), are joined by other outstanding tennis players:
– Félix Auger-Aliassime: First tennis player born in the 21st century to win an ATP match. (Only 17 years old)
-Simone Bolelli: Best ranking 36 ATP, 5 double ATP titles and double Australian Open champion with Fabio Fognini. Best double ranking 8 ATP.
-Dustin Brown: Best ranking 64 ATP, defeated Rafa Nadal in 2nd Round of Wimbledon 2015
-Roberto Carballes: Best ranking 72 ATP, has just won his first ATP title in the city of Quito. (Feb 2018)
-Marcel Granollers: Best ranking 19 ATP, ATP 500 Valencia Champion and 3 ATP 250 titles. 15 double ATP titles and 2012 Master Cup champion. Davis Cup Champion for Spain 2008 and 2011.
– Jurgen Melzer: Best ranking 8 ATP. 5 titles individual ATP and 13 in doubles. Semifinalist in individual Roland Garros 2010. Champion in doubles Wimbledon 2010 and US Open 2011.
-Martin Klizan: Best Ranking 24 ATP and 5 individual ATP titles
– Andrey Kuznetsov: Best ranking 39 ATP
-Tommy Robredo: Best ranking 5 ATP. 12 individual ATP titles and double ATP titles. Davis Cup champion for Spain (2004,2008 and 2009) -Dudi Sela: Best Ranking 29 ATP. 16 individual ATP Challenger titles.
-1 Reserve: Nicolás Almagro: best Ranking 9 ATP, 13 individual ATP titles.
The list of players has been presented today at a press conference held at the Marbella Town Hall that has had the support of personalities and institutions from the tennis world as well as delegates from the collaborating companies; this is the case of the Marbella Town Hall’s Sports Counselor, Javier Mérida, the Casino Admiral Trophy tournament director, Ronald Leitgeb, the ambassador for the tournament, Adrián Menéndez and the tennis player, Alejandro Davidovich.
Casino Admiral Trophy makes a debut in the ATP Challenger Tour circuit with strengh and the privilege of adapting the tournament to the Easter holidays regardless of the dates in which it is held in future years. So far only the main tournament of the circuit (San Luis de Potosí, Mexico) enjoyed that possibility.
