A tribute to Gio Ponti.
Richard Ginori on exhibit at the Hall des Maréchaux, Rue de Rivoli, Paris
18 – 21 January 2019
Le Hall des Maréchaux – Musée des Arts Décoratifs – Rue de Rivoli 103 – Paris
Richard Ginori celebrates the launch of its new collections with an original new visual and multi-media experience in the Hall des Maréchaux.
GIO PONTI MAGNIFIED. RICHARD GINORI’S DECORATIONS AS NEVER SEEN BEFORE, an exhibition at Le Hall des Maréchaux from January 18 through 21 2019, will be open to the public during the dates of the important trade fair Maison&Objet (18 – 22 January 2019).
On the occasion of the exhibition “Tutto Ponti, Gio Ponti archi-designer”, open until 5 May 2019 at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, of which it is official sponsor, Richard Ginori offers an original new installation in the Paris museum’s Hall des Maréchaux.
The installation is a homeage to Gio Ponti in version 2.0, emphasising his most iconographic motifs and underlining the profound link between art and Manifattura Ginori’s creativity over the years.
Visitors begin with a full immersion in the surprising world of Gio Ponti in the ground-floor Hall. Richard Ginori brings the great master’s iconic designs to life in an innovative form of video mapping on the walls and ceiling of the Hall, in an immersive, almost cinematographic experience that thrills visitors by making them feel like they are participating in Ponti’s artistic genius. From the unique illusionistic effect of the Prospettica motif to the magical elements of Mano della Fattucchiera, the figures ornamenting the Passeggiata Archeologica, the women on the clouds decorating the Donne e Architetture Vase, and the darting female figures in Art Deco style of Le Mie Donne, Ponti’s art and style are revealed in a timeless dimension.
This intense immersive narration takes the spectator to the first floor, a room with black and white marble columns illuminated by a big window overlooking the gardens of the Carrousel.
The monumental wrought iron staircase to the upper level opens into the ‘Labyrinth’ room exhibiting the new Stuoia 1923 collection with its interwoven motif wrapping around the porcelain, the new giftware items added to the must-have Oriente Italiano collection, and iconic collections such as Volière, representing the epitome of the Manifactury’s master craftsmanship and artistic heritage, the Giardino dell’Iris collection, painted entirely by hand with the Iris symbolising the city of Florence,Perroquets, with its motifs inspired by botanical illustrations in eighteenth-century manuscripts, and Totem, unique customisable objects inspired by the world of nature.
The exhibition continues with a selection of Ponti’s artworks recreated by Richard Ginori, including Trionfo da tavola per le ambasciate d’Italia, a striking composition of white porcelain objects with pure gold trim; Le Mani, codifying Ponti’s artistic philosophy, style and interpretation in a limited edition of unique objects; Le Mie Donne, a series of oval-shaped majolica bowls and plates decorated with women in classic Art Deco style; La Conversazione Classica, oval-shaped majolica bowls decorated with allegorical figures alluding to the Arts; Prospettica, an orcino vase which is one of the great master’s best-known works, revealing his background in architecture even in the title; Passeggiata Archaelogica, a series of plates Ponti decorated with a motif inspired by the classicism of the Manufactory; and Vaso Donne e Architetture, a porcelain vase decorated with scenes covering thousands of years of history, from the Ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans to the Renaissance.
The second floor ‘Lounge’ presents the new Corona collection, in which a refined thread of gold, platinum or blue traces the Antico Doccia form, and the Corona Monogramcollection combining skilled craftsmanship with innovation to create a truly unique customised product. For the first time, Richard Ginori offers an opportunity to create a unique, personal table setting that can be combined with items from any other Richard Ginori collection in creative and original ways. The collection includes six customisable items: place-markers, plates, bowls, mugs, bread plates and dessert plates.
The story is completed with new tableware from the Magnifico collection with its precious papyrus motif, symbolising wealth and prosperity.
The exhibition and event is planned under the art direction of EligoStudio, an interior design studio founded in 2011 by Alberto Nespoli and Domenico Rocca.
GIO PONTI MAGNIFIED. RICHARD GINORI’S DECORATIONS AS NEVER SEEN BEFORE is held with the cooperation of important partners such as Molteni&C, provider of furnishings from the Heritage Collection dedicated to Gio Ponti for the ‘Lounge’ (coffee table D.552.2 and armchairs D.153.1 and D.154.2) and Viabizzuno, a maker of light fixtures based in Bentivoglio (BO), underlining the quality of materials on exhibit with the particularly high chromatic performance of its innovative earth microtrack systems with adjustable spotlights (trentotto and ecomini) in the ‘Labirinth’ area and illuminating the new Richard Ginori collections in the ‘Lounge’ area with lanterna n55, an innovative hybrid propulsion system presented for the first time at the event.
